Pick of the Bunch:

Of course I couldn't go past Inception for this month's best. This film is going to be huge, and will easily be the film that defines 2010 cinematically. It is clever, engrossing and visually spectacular. It is well acted and directed and best of all, it is completely original.
Also Up There: Gran Torino, Dances With Wolves, District 9

Don't Waste Your Time: Brazil didn't do much for me, but enough people really like it that I think it's the kind of movie you've got to explore for yourself. So I'm going to have to go with Bad Lieutenant. It's a powerful performance from Keitel, but that is really the only thing you're likely to get out of the film. If you're an aspiring actor or have a keen interest in acting or film it's worth watching for the performance, but for your average punter the brilliant performance probably isn't enough to justify sitting through what is a rather in your face, but narrativeless film.
