Welcome

Welcome to My Year of Movies. My name is Duncan and I'm a movie nut. Between researching for my PhD in film history, teaching film studies classes at uni and my own recreational viewing, I watch a stack of movies. I've set up this blog to share a few thoughts and impressions as I watch my way through the year. I hope you find it interesting and maybe even a bit entertaining. Enjoy.

Films Watched:
14 (110 in total)

Pick of the Bunch:

While there are some may think I don't posses the ability to pick against a Martin Scorsese picture, for me this was pretty much in the bag as soon as I'd seen Some Like It Hot. It's a fantastic, rapid-fire comedy. Billy Wilder at the top of his game. But what really swayed it for me was that it was a pleasant surprise. I was not expecting to love this film as much as I did so it really blew me away.

Also Up There:
The 40 Year Old Virgin, The Conversation, Goodfellas

Don't Waste Your Time: More Than a Game. It's nothing special as an example of the documentary form, and unless you enjoy basketball you won't get much out of the content either.
